SUTR — सूत्र — means thread. Not a metaphor. The actual starting point, every time.
Passed hand to hand on a handloom in Varanasi, through generations who measured a day's work in threads, not units. The weaving itself hasn't changed much — the loom still sets the pace, the weaver still makes a hundred small decisions per hour that never show up in a spec sheet.
What changed is who's designing with it. We didn't want to leave that lineage behind to build something contemporary. So we didn't.
We don't start with a trend board or a rendering. We start with fiber, twist, and density — decisions made at the thread, before a single sketch exists. That order matters. It's why the weight, drape, and texture of a finished piece read as considered rather than manufactured.
Restrained silhouettes. Considered proportions. Nothing added that the cloth didn't already earn. That's the discipline — not a style, a constraint we chose on purpose.
